I can't weight to start doing serious marathon training within the next year! Did a few 5k's earlier on this year and to day since January have lost ~30 lbs! Down to 195 and hopefully getting to 185 but summers end. But excellent regardless! I started running on and off from January but really hammered down late in May and now am up to a 5 mile run 5-6 days a week. Well, after seeing top comment I feel a bit shittier. Ideally that will be me at just under 100kg (presently I'm just over 110kg and can press 70kgx5) New goal is to bench press my body weight by end of year. Long way to go still but I've revised my goals to be harder than they were at the start of the year. Down 10kg and 6 waist inches, on every compound lift except OHP I'm now able to do 10 of what was my January 5RM as an easy warmup set, and for the first time since I was a young child I feel healthy. Better successes - weight stayed static, but I dropped four belt notches, went from 3-4 pushups to 10, and was clearly getting stronger and better conditioned.Ģ015: Resolution was "to improve by more than last year". Succeeded, but results were pretty small.Ģ013: Same resolution, same modest successes.Ģ014: Same resolution. Result: Failed, but that was a truly torrid year.Ģ012 resolution: Improve fitness/health/weight. Thank you r/fitness!!Ģ011 resolution: Improve fitness/health/weight. This sub's taught me that achieving just about anything that's worth it takes discipline. But honestly, now I'm at the point where I don't see myself stopping and going back to who I was. This year's been crazy and I've definitely had moments where I felt like giving up on everything I've built so far. Along with having a good psychiatrist and support behind me, I've dedicated myself to the gym, lost around 25 pounds so far (halfway to my goal) and my body image has never been as positive as it is now. January 1st I opened up to my mother for the first time ever about my deteriorating mental health and soon after I got help. I'm really happy to say, with some disbelief, that things have improved so much in my life and fitness has played a huge part in it. If by the end of the year things were just as bad as and my mental health didnt improve, I would just end it all. New years eve I decided I was giving myself one year to make a change. I've suffered with depression for years and by the end of last year, I was just so done with myself. This wasn't the best route to take, but it got me to actually make a change. I don't think I would do it again, but that adrenaline high was incredible. Fortunately, there was one really nice homeless man who intervened and mediated, and eventually a couple of cars (patrons and owner from the restaurant) found us. I kept my distance as I didn't know if he had a weapon, and I quickly noticed I was being surrounded by homeless people who were inciting him. There was a surreal 2-3 blocks of him jumping over dumpsters and doing parkour shit, but eventually he turned around, completely exhausted, and threatened me. It worked and he was visibly disoriented and tired after 10-15 blocks. He was MUCH faster than I was (even if I had my running shoes on), but since my city is basically a giant grid, I figured by getting out of his line of sight so that he could not see me would encourage him to start walking, and after he saw me again coming from a different direction/corner he would start running really fast. A huge group of people were running after this guy but they all gave up after 2-3 blocks. I just got out of a 3 hour yoga workshop, and as I was putting stuff in my trunk I heard a bunch of ladies screaming "Thief!" while running out of a restaurant across the street.
